Turner Barn

Built in 1898 near Gardner, the Turner Barn stands as an outstanding example of barn construction by renowned builder Arthur J. Clinton, designed using Louisiana red cypress—an exceptionally durable wood rarely used in Kansas. The historic structure measures 62 feet wide, 40 feet deep, and 45 feet tall, capped by two large cupolas and set on a limestone foundation. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the barn has been featured in countless publications including magazines, calendars, and trade materials. Still owned by the Turner family after more than 120 years, it combines exceptional craftsmanship with a picturesque setting among rolling hills in southwest Johnson County.

The barn accommodates weddings and events, with couples typically hosting outdoor ceremonies and receptions inside the structure, which seats approximately 75 guests. Professional photographers are welcome at the venue, with private ground access and interior availability at $60 per hour (one-hour minimum) or $500 per day. Event rentals include three-day access beginning Friday evening for rehearsals through Sunday.
