Small Kansas Wedding Spaces: Published Room Capacities

These rooms have published capacities of 48 or fewer. That makes them useful leads for a small ceremony, meal, or reception, but capacity is not a promise that the room is available for a wedding or that the stated arrangement leaves space for a dance floor and service.

The Dillon House — Topeka

The Dillon House is marketed for weddings and lists three indoor rooms: Capitol View, up to 16 seated; The Study, about 40 seated; and the West Wing, about 56 seated. Only Capitol View and The Study meet this guide’s 48-or-fewer screen. The page lists bar service, catering packages, tables and chairs, and a coordinator as venue features; ask which apply to a single-room booking.

Ask: Can rooms be combined, and what seated layout remains once dining, service, and any dance area are placed?

Great Overland Station — Topeka

The Beacon’s Great Overland Station page lists The Loft at up to 48 seated. The same operator presents weddings and events, while larger rooms at the station exceed this guide’s size screen. The page lists features including a catering kitchen, bar service, tables and chairs, elevator, and coordinator; it does not say which are included in a Loft rental.

Ask: Is The Loft available for a wedding event, and what does its rental include?

General event-rental rooms — wedding use unconfirmed

Union Pacific Depot — Lawrence

The Depot’s Theater Room is listed at 38 seated or 45 standing, and the City says it cannot be reserved separately from the 90-seat Community Room. The facility is an event space, but the city page does not mention weddings. Its $90-per-hour whole-facility rate has a three-hour minimum and does not establish a wedding package.

Ask: Whether a small wedding is permitted and whether the larger Community Room can stay unused under the same reservation.

Carnegie Building — Lawrence

The Carnegie Building’s East and West Galleries each list 32 seated / 49 standing, but they are included in the Heritage Room rental and cannot be hired on their own. The City does not state wedding use. The full facility’s 150-seat room is outside this guide’s small-room screen.

Ask: Whether a small wedding may use the combined rental, and what usable layout remains after the larger Heritage Room is part of the booking.
