A $5,000 Kansas Wedding: A 20-Guest Planning Scenario
This is an arithmetic example for 20 guests, including the couple. It is not a vendor quote or a promise that a $5,000 wedding is available on a particular date. One line uses a current published Kansas venue price; every other amount is an illustrative planning allocation, not a claimed Kansas market rate.
| Category | Amount | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Venue rental | $500 | Tumblweed Chapel’s posted rate |
| Food and nonalcoholic drinks | $900 | Illustrative allocation |
| Photography | $1,400 | Illustrative allocation |
| Attire | $650 | Illustrative allocation |
| Flowers and decor | $350 | Illustrative allocation |
| Ceremony and administration | $250 | Illustrative allocation |
| Music | $250 | Illustrative allocation |
| Dessert | $200 | Illustrative allocation |
| Stationery | $100 | Illustrative allocation |
| Reserve for omitted/changed costs | $400 | Illustrative allocation |
| Total | $5,000 | $500 + $900 + $1,400 + $650 + $350 + $250 + $250 + $200 + $100 + $400 |
Tumblweed lists weddings and says the Chapel seats 200, but its page does not say whether the $500 rental is for a ceremony, a reception layout, or a particular time block. It also does not state food, alcohol, accessibility, staffing, tax, deposit, or cleaning terms. Confirm those before using the venue line in a real budget.
What this scenario excludes
Rings, honeymoon, lodging, rehearsal event, gifts, bachelor/bachelorette events, taxes, tips, and any vendor charge that exceeds an illustrative allocation are outside the $5,000 total. Reducing the guest count, event hours, or purchased categories may be necessary once real quotes arrive.
See how to compare published venue rates before treating any room price as a full event price.
