Prairie Park Nature Center Pavilion — Lawrence

The City of Lawrence explicitly directs couples planning a wedding to reserve the Prairie Park Nature Center Pavilion for the ceremony and consider another facility for the reception. The pavilion has a green yard, a traditional wedding aisle, natural-stone seating and capacity for up to 120 adults with accessible aisles. The City of Lawrence describes the William Kelly Bandstand in South Park as a rentable gazebo and a popular place for weddings and special events. The park also contains flower gardens, a butterfly garden, fountain, lights and electricity, but the city does not publish a wedding capacity, rental fee or specific event rules on the park page. Botanica, The Wichita Gardens — Wichita

Botanica has a dedicated wedding program with indoor and outdoor spaces. Its FAQ lists capacities of 300 for Main Meadow, Martha Parriott Terrace and Terrace Room; 200 for the Chinese Garden of Friendship and Lotus Hall; and 70 for the Pavilion. The venue says tables and chairs up to the space capacity are provided, a scheduled 45-minute rehearsal is included, and it has an open food-and-beverage catering policy. Naftzger Park — Wichita

Wichita’s Naftzger Park rental application specifically includes weddings among events for which the park director may waive insurance at their discretion. It places setup, takedown and cleanup on the permit holder, requires permits such as food, noise, tent inspection or liquor licensing when applicable, and says the reserved hours must include setup, teardown and cleanup.
